In the last years of the 19th century, a milestone was born that is still valid, a living history of a court drink. The facts are mixed in the same way that Medio y Medio was born in the Mercado del Puerto, uniting two wines. They say that, in the bars of the port of Montevideo, men accompanied by their ladies ordered a bottle of Italian Sparkling wine type ASTI Moscato and a bottle of dry white wine. To accompany his lady, who liked very sweet wine, the man cut half a measure of sweet sparkling wine and half a measure of dry white wine into a glass. This cut, called Medio y Medio, became very popular at the “ROLDOS” Bar (located in the heart of the Mercado del Puerto), where Don Álvarez received all the nightlife of the time at his bar.
